Studio Art
Studio Art's curriculum is designed to prepare students for future art classes and hopefully an art career.
These classes meet 40 minutes a day for the entire school year. We focus on drawing, painting, and creative problem solving. The following is a list of some of our projects:
Painting: designing and painting large scale murals
Drawing: creating accurate self portraits, using our right brain to "draw what we see", discovering blind-contour and gesture drawing
Photography: during this unit art students will build a pin hole camera using an oatmeal box. They will then take pictures, and develop them in a real dark room.
Batik: We will create wax, tempera, and glue batiks
Printing: this unit will allow us to carve linoleum blocks and create multiple prints. The students will also learn how to number their prints.
Computer Design: We will learn the basics of Photo Shop Elements, and create our own Photo Stories.
